The First Day of the Rest of My Life – Yikes! My Own Words – November 10, 2019 – Day 71

People have lost their dreams years, even decades, ago. They have lost their own individuality. They mainly identify with spouses, partners, family, jobs, social involvements. But, they have sublimated their own dreams so much they can no longer remember what they were.” - Ed Helvey

You read that right, that's a quote from me. Here it is, Day 71, Sunday November 10th (the day before Veterans Day) and I received an email from one of my long-time followers of this blog, Richard Rosen in Florida. Wow! As I read my own words, they seemed to be particularly meaningful today. No! Not because I wrote them, but because, as I deal with my cancer adventure, I need them to bolster myself up.

So, today, I start off with my own quote. Below, I'm going to list a number of other quotes from other “dreamers.” The intent? Simple! To inspire and encourage you to reach for those dreams that have been gathering dust in the far reaches of your memory.

But, first, here is a brief update on the past few days, Day 69, Friday and Day 70, Saturday as well as today. Eating and drinking, while still a bit challenging, has been pretty good and I've been enjoying the flavors and textures of the various foods and liquids I've indulged in over the past three days. I even had pepperoni pizza last night and polished off the cold leftovers today. I've been enjoying orange and grapefruit juice, two of the many juices I like.

Yesterday I decided it was time to start the van since the engine hasn't been run in two weeks. It started right up. I loaded some empty cartons in the van plus a new piece of audio equipment I ordered for some projects next spring. I bought it now because I saved more than 50% for a brand new piece. It would have cost me way more than this if I hadn't grabbed the deal within the 24-hour window the sale was in effect.

So, I drove the van to my storage unit about four blocks away. I opened the storage unit and knew it was going to wipe out my energy. I needed to look for something. I unloaded a bunch of boxes and never found what I was looking for. So, I put everything back, then added the empty cartons in along with the new piece of equipment. I closed the unit, completely exhausted and drove back to Carolyn's house. I parked the van, went inside and hit my bed for a nap. This entire exercise was only about 45 minutes. So, I'm eating, drinking and gaining some weight. But, the fatigue and extremely low energy levels remain.

Carolyn and I go to Winchester in three days (Wednesday) for two doctor appointments, a flush of the port embedded in my chest and to have lunch with Judy. I'll learn about the results of the CT scan I had two weeks ago. I'm not looking for any surprises only good news.

Now, here are some inspirational quotes that I hope will inspire and encourage you to move forward with your life and dreams.

“Yes: I am a dreamer. For a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.” ― Oscar Wild

I hope you found something in this post to uplift, inspire and encourage you regardless of your current life circumstances. And, please, let's not forget all the veterans who, for nearly 250 years have taken an oath to allow us all the freedom to dream and seek our dreams. Tomorrow is November 11th, Veterans Day.

Live free and be happy. EH
