Living the life of Freedom

I apologize for the long lapse in postings . . . again. I guess I’m the epitome of the person who can’t chew gum and walk at the same time. I get so busy living and working free that I don’t allow or make time to “journal” my experiences on my blog so I can share them with others. There is a positive out of all this – I’m learning more and more about who I am and my mission – and it’s more exciting every day.

Over the past couple months I’ve been to North Carolina twice, South Carolina twice. I’ve completed the narration of a short audio book on the philosophies of Abraham Lincoln. I recorded two audio books with the author, at his home (where I stayed) on the shore of Lake Murray, near Columbia, SC. One book is titled “The Sheep Thief” and the other is called, “Thinking Big, Living Large.” More on all this at another time. While in the Columbia area, I had an opportunity to visit with a woman and her husband I hadn’t seen in over 30 years. I met Peg and hung out with her (as part of a group) while we all were graduate students at Syracuse University in the late 80’s. That was a wonderful reunion. Of course, I stopped in and visited my other grad school buddies, Dudley and Caroline (we were all part of the same group that hang out together), in their mountaintop home about 5 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway in northwestern North Carolina.

I also, sadly attended the country funeral, in western, MD, of a wonderful man who worked in the coal mines of western MD his entire life until he retired. I’ve had the chance to get to know his family (a large group of warm country people) who all grew up in the same, small, humble cottage on a small mountain. He died, at age 84, from the complications of black lung disease.

I also made a trip to Phoenix, Cottonwood and Sedona, AZ. While I was in Phoenix I couch surfed at my former sister-in-law’s house. I stayed in Cottonwood and explored a little bit of Mingus Mountain and the gorgeous views. I drove over to Sedona for a couple of the days to attend and record a workshop on Enlightened Livelihoods. More about the workshop in the future.

Between all these adventures I’ve been going back and forth between my one location with my friend in Winchester, VA, my other location with my friend in Falls Church, VA and my office in Fairfax, VA. I have also been doing motor home window shopping on-line and between SC and MD (where I checked out a very likely candidate, just last week).

So, life is fantastic. Yesterday, I packed the car with all the recording gear, provisions, acoustical materials – and left from Winchester for Keyser, WV, my friend’s house. Today is the beginning of a new adventure. And that’s the topic of the next several posts.

Enthusiastically,
Ed
